Thank you for those who had submitted their April Ear Training, Rhythm Composition 3, and March Practice Record.

The first Vocal Music exercise for this week is the April Ear Training. You can choose to work with the Ear Training Worksheet found in your email, or simply write down your answers on any random piece of paper. By following the Ear Training video, read and clap the patterns first, then write the patterns in the order of the video presentation. Finally, submit your answers to Ms. Lee at kaiilee@iusd.org or kaii@kafm.net.

If you have not done so, please check out the Rhythm Composition 3 worksheet. It is all about RHYTHM!

Everyone should have lots of minutes of "outside of school" activities to record on the Practice Record, especially that we no longer physically go to school. Please check the EDL page often and take the weekly work progress survey. Thank you!

In the meantime, Ms. Lee is answering everyone's April Ear Training, Rhythm Composition 3, and March Practice Record individually.

Welcome back to Distance Learning! We have our official orders from our superintendent that schools will stay closed through the end of this school year. School is out, but learning is in!

In the meantime, Ms. Lee is making more videos about the "Singing Basics" songs. Please check the EDL page often and take the weekly work progress survey. Thank you!

If you have not seen it yet, here is an uplifting version of Beethoven's "Ode To Joy", performed by members of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, in Netherlands, at each member's home. After the musicians introduce themselves, the double bass starts at 0:44 of the video and the choral portion starts at 3:08 of the video. Ms. Lee had created a singer's version so you can sing along with this orchestra. If you need help with the German pronunciation, click here. Have fun!

Our superintendent announced at 2:48 pm today that IUSD would be closed through the end of this school year, like all the other California schools. We will be on the Distance Learning for ten more weeks.

More than ever, people are looking for ways to keep learning online. Wherever you’re learning right now, it’s important to stay motivated. Sticking to a routine helps us maintain a healthy learning habit. Choose a specific time to take a music lesson, like right when you wake up or just before lunch, and you’ll remember to practice every day. In a typical music lesson, we go through the following activities:

• Stretching - 2 minutes
• Breathing - 3 minutes
• Warm-up Singing - 3 minutes
• Rhythm Reading/Clapping - 5 minutes
• Singing Basics Songs Singing - 15 minutes
• Concert Songs Singing - 12 minutes

Check the videos Ms. Lee had created for each grade level, 4th, 5th, 6th grade, and "The Star-Spangled Banner" in three different ways.

In the meantime, enjoy Spring Break, please take care and be healthy!

Happy National Doctor's Day! We salute to all the brave and hard-working doctors and nurses in this great nation!

It is the first full day of our Spring Break. Instead of watching more Netflix shows or playing video games, how about getting a schedule ready for the "Stay-At-Home" period that could last longer than we first anticipated? Don't forget to schedule some outdoor time everyday for physical exercises.

While enjoying Spring Break, please take care and be healthy!
